Artwork
by MJC Professor JOEL HAGEN to be featured at ShockerFest
Joel Hagen's art work was commissioned
by Japan's NHK television network for their Space Millennium
Series in 2001. He was asked
to create convincing life forms for Europa and for early Mars with
a solid scientific foundation. Some of the assumptions for environmental
conditions on Europa were partly based on the concepts of two specialists
who were also involved in the project.
The design of these two biomes proved to be an interesting cross
cultural experience for Joel Hagen who is currently a professor
in the computer graphics department of Modesto Junior College.
The 24 panels on display are the final designs that were then used
by NHK writers and animators to produce their television special.
